Volunteering With Safe Haven of Person County:
Safe Haven of Person County welcomes dedicated, community-minded individuals who are committed to supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Volunteer service is an important part of our mission; however, because our work involves sensitive information and survivor safety, all volunteers must complete a formal screening and training process before placement.

Volunteer Eligibility and Expectations:
Volunteers are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and respect. Volunteer roles may vary based on agency needs and volunteer availability.

Volunteer Application Process:
To be considered for volunteer service, applicants must complete the steps below:
-
Submit a Volunteer Application
All prospective volunteers must complete and submit the Volunteer Application in full. Applications are reviewed by agency staff to determine eligibility and fit based on current program needs. -
Complete a Comprehensive Background Check
Safe Haven of Person County requires a background check for all volunteers. Background checks must be completed and cleared prior to participating in any agency activities and before any volunteer placement is confirmed. -
Complete Mandatory Volunteer Training (Minimum 40 Hours)
All approved volunteers must complete a minimum of forty (40) hours of training before beginning any volunteer service. Training prepares volunteers to serve in a trauma-informed and confidential environment and includes topics such as:-
Trauma-informed, survivor-centered advocacy
-
Confidentiality, ethics, and professional boundaries
-
Crisis intervention and safety planning
-
Domestic violence and sexual assault dynamics
-
Human trafficking awareness
-
Cultural awareness and survivor engagement
-
Agency policies and procedures
-
Please note: Completion of training does not guarantee placement. Volunteer assignments are based on agency needs, scheduling availability, and successful completion of all requirements.
Important Notes:
Safe Haven of Person County reserves the right to approve, deny, or discontinue volunteer participation as necessary to protect the safety and well-being of clients, staff, and the organization.
